5 Kalyani University teachers figure in Stanford University’s list for research publications

KALYANI, 21 OCT: Five teachers of Kalyani University have found a place in the list compiled by Stanford University of USA that ranks the top two per cent of scientists worldwide based on their research publications.

Among the 3,796 scientist-researchers figuring in the list compiled by Stanford University, Kalyani University has found a place in the counting of the citations of research papers and H-index among all Indian universities.

The H-index is an author-level metric that measures the productivity and citation impact of publications.

The five teachers who figured in the list include two former teachers – Prof K C Majumdar and Prof Anisur Rahman Khuda-Bukhsh. The three other teachers are Prof Zahedd Hossain from Botany department, Prof Sk Manirul Islam of Chemistry department and Prof Anirban Mukhopadhyay of Computer Science and Engineering department, said Prof Sujay Kumar Mandal, chairman of the institute’s Public Relation Cell.

Kalyani University Vice-Chancellor Prof Manas Kumar Sanyal said that it is a matter of great pride that the number of teachers-scientists from his institution has been figured among all Indian universities and this happened due to continuing pursuit of excellence in scientific research by his colleagues.

The database of top-cited scientists has taken into consideration research publications upto 2021 end and included the top two per cent of the scientists of the world based on percentile score.

Scientists are classified into 22 fields and 176 sub-fields. Field and subfield-specific percentiles are also provided for all scientists with at least five papers.
