KRISHNAGAR, 12 APRIL: In a decisive crackdown on illegal narcotics activity, the Murutia police under Krishnagar Police District in Nadia conducted a raid at Village Paiksa, situated under Pipulberia Gram Panchayat, and successfully seized a substantial quantity of contraband.
Acting on actionable intelligence, officers from Murutia police station carried out the operation, leading to the recovery of 90.900 kilograms of ganja from the possession of one Abdul Mandal, aged 62.
Abdul Mandal, identified as the son of late Sanatan Mandal and a resident of Paiksa Hatpara, found himself in police custody following the seizure. The operation, conducted under the purview of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, resulted in Mandal’s immediate arrest on charges of violation of the said act.
A specific case has been initiated to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the illegal possession and distribution of narcotics. The case has been registered under Murutia Police Station Case No. 116/24 dated April 12, 2024, under sections 20(b)(ii))(C) and 29 of the NDPS Act.
