KOLKATA, 11 MAY: AIl India Trinamul Congress (AITC) national general secretary Àbhishek Banerjee during his maiden speech in Assam asked the members of Assam Trinamul Congress to take head-on BJP in Assam during 2024 Lok Sabha poll.
He asked the Assam Trinamul Congress members that unlike Congress, Trinamul Congress fight against the BJP not on twitter or social media but they fight on the ground. Trinamul Congress hit the street and fights against the fuel price hike, NRC, CAA sand other issues.
He said, “We will give 200 percent or more for you but you have to assure me that you will hit the streets on various issues.”
Mr Banerjee said “Sushmita Deb, Rupen Bhora all joined Trinamul Congress from Congress because they want to fight against BJP bosses and will fight till the last drop of blood in my body.”
He also assured the Assam Trinamul Congress that he would again visit the state in June.
“We are not cowed down by ED and CBI. The BJP at the Centre has failed to digest their defeat in 2021 Assembly poll and harassing me and even came to my house for interrogation. They even summoned me to Delhi where they grilled me for nine hours. I am not a person to bow my head before the BJP bosses.

Later, he said, “We prayed for the well being of the people of Assam who have been severely neglected by the BJP government.
Our priority has always been our people and as we begin this journey, we pray to Maa Kamakhya and seek her blessings. Together, we will take Assam to greater heights,” he said.
He extended a very warm welcome to everyone who joined Assam Trinamul Congress in presence of party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
He later said that AITC won’t be conceding any space for BJP in Tripura. “Within three months, we have become the principal opposition in the state after securing over 23% vote share in the urban body’s civic polls last year.” Mr Banerjee said.
“You compare PM Modi’s seven years of governance with 10 years of Didi’s governance in Bengal and you will see the stark difference. I challenge the BJP to bring out its report card, and we will bring out ours. You will see the difference,” he said the members of Assam Trinamul Congress.
He also said, “It is clear that AITC is the only party that is taking on the BJP head on. From Bengal to Goa to Tripura, we are active on the ground at every place. We aren’t cowed down upon BJP’s might and its use of investigative agencies,” he said.
