Mr. Chowdhury, the MP from Behrampore, also demanded a CBI inquiry into the blast.
Alleging that the state police are not capable enough to crack the mystery blast that hit the minister and several others of his subordinates and TMC followers, Mr. Chowdhury said that the CBI inquiry was required because the state police are still groping in the dark.

Two days have passed and the local police have no clue as to how the blast occurred on the railway platform which is normally frequented by the commuters, said Mr. Chowdhury who is also the leader of the Congress party in Lok Sabha. It is possible that the explosion was a case of sabotage which needs to be objectively looked into, he said. There were many of the vested interest groups that did not want Jakir Hossain contesting the polls again, the MP stated here today suggesting that the TMC party insiders might have engineered the attack  and the state government machinery may end up suppressing the possible sabotage.
Mr. Jakir Hossain was into long-standing conflict with the trans-border cattle smugglers, said the Congress leader. Moreover, Jakir Hossain used to protest expressing solidarity with farmers when thousands of border-bound cattle trampled on the farmlands causing damage of standing crops, the MP added.
