SANTIPUR, 17 OCT: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and leader of opposition in West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari today hoped that his party will win the by-election in Santipur with a margin of three times more votes than the previous margin.
Reacting to a question, Mr Adhikari said, “After the incident occurred in Bangladesh, we will win the by-poll in Santipur with three times more margin than the previous one. Here the people, I believe, will franchise their rights in favour of Sanatan Dharma.”
He also sent messages to the Santipur residents by saying, “Radhe, Radhe”.
Mr Adhikari came to Santipur to attend a party’s organizational meeting in favour of party’s candidate Niranjan Biswas. The by-poll was necessitated as the party’s MP Jagannath Sarkar who won the assembly polls by a margin of 16000 votes, resigned from Santipur.
The by-poll will be held on 30 October.
