Bengal gets investment proposals of Rs 3.42 lakh crore from BGBS

KOLKATA, 22 APRIL: The chief minister Mamata Banerjee on the second day of Bengal Global Business Summit said, “Unity is our main strength. A United India is what we dream of what we aim to achieve. It’s time to reject the hate-mongers.”

In two days summit recorded business proposal of whopping more than Rs 3.42 lakh crore. Mr Gautam Adani has promised to invest Rs 10,000 crore on port and there is a scope of employment of 25,000 people.

The renowned doctor Devi Shetti came to attend BGBS and said within three years he would set up 1,000 beds a low cost hospital with modern facilities.

The sixth edition of Bengal in Business Summit 2022 was held on 20th-21st April, 2022 at Bangla International Convention Center, Kolkata. This was the first successful global investment mega event to be held in the country after the unprecedented COVID 19 pandemic. The resilient and stupendous performance of the state over the past decade has established it as one of the fastest growing economies in the country.

The Summit focuses endeavours towards ease of doing business, enabling infrastructural ecosystem and conducive environment for entrepreneurs, businesses and investors has resulted in investments from across the world. The confidence and enthusiasm about Bengal were visible from the huge participation of delegates from India and abroad who expressed their business interests in Bengal.

Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Republic of Korea and United Kingdom were 14 partner countries in this year BGBS.

In all 4300 delegates participated in the summit from 42 countries with over 500 

International delegates attending the event Ambassadors from Italy, Malaysia, Kenya, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Fiji, Australia, Japan, Poland, Finland, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan joined the summit.

Chambers of Commerce and International Institutions like JETRO, JICA and KOTRA also participated in the summit.

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI), Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Germany Trade and Invest, IGCC, VDMA, Italian Trade Agency,

ASSOMAC, Indo –Italian Chamber of Commerce, SACE (Italian Export Credit Agency),

Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Innovation Norway, RUSSOFT, British Council, Confederation of British Industries, United States Patent and Trademark Office participated in the summit. 

Revamped Silpa Sathi Portal: Single window portal to provide statutory clearance for new and running business in the state.

Export Facilitation Portal: One stop portal to provide information on market opportunity, prevailing tariffs, export potential products, and cauliflower certification agencies for international exports to all producers, sellers and exporters of the state.

State Portal for Online Exhibition: Provides a cost-effective platform for Seller/ Exporter to register their products free of cost with individual product features including photos, videos, price, and availability. 

Nijaswini Portal: This robust State SHG portal – a unique intervention in the country and a first of its kind, will serve as an umbrella portal wherein the different SHGs promoted and nurtured under various departments, can be centrally reviewed for their effectiveness and outputs.
