MIDNAPORE, 15 MAY: The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari today condemned the entry of the police into his office at his Assembly constituency, Nandigram in East Midnapore.
He alleged that the police had “barged” into his office in Nandigram on Sunday without prior intimation, a search warrant or any magistrate being present.
“This lamentable and vicious act of Mamata Banerjee’s government is blatant misuse of police against the Leader of Opposition,” he posted on Twitter, along with a video.
In light of the same, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar sought an urgent report from the Chief Secretary on the same.
He tweeted, “West Bengal Chief Secretary to render status report by 10 pm today indicating full details of heavy police and rapid action force posse and senior police officials present in and outside MLA office of LOP Suvendu Adhikari. Such an action in the MLA office of LOP is a matter of deep concern.”
