BURDWAN, 22 OCT: Factional fights erupted at BJP party office in Katwa today when the cadres braved assaulting the party’s district president and his second man barely a couple of hours ahead of the arrival of the party heavyweights, which the state committee however termed as ‘a conspiracy hatched by the Trinamul Congress.’
The rebels meanwhile rubbished the claim and stated: “Both the district committee leaders are the lieutenants of Dilip Ghosh – the former party president and alleged in public: “Ghosh is purposely accompanying the new party president Sukanta Majumdar to guard his ‘own corrupt men’ those are actually having a nexus with the Trinamul Congress.”

Majumdar, on arrival to the dismantled office with Ghosh said: “The persons those attacked the BJP office can’t be the members of the BJP, instead, we suspect that they were assigned by the TMC to destabilize our functionary.” He however added: “We shall hold an internal probe.”
The rumbling of discontent within the BJP spilled out for the second time in Burdwan East district in a year. The BJP has two organisational district committees in Burdwan East – the Burdwan district committee headquartered in Burdwan town and the Burdwan Rural district committee headquartered in Dainhat near Katwa town.
On 21 January, the rebel cadres had vandalized the Burdwan office and today the Katwa office witnessed the brawl. A disappointed Ghosh said: “We are all standing strong behind the new state leadership, which is gaining momentum and at this time the TMC is trying to create such fracas.”
The TMC district president Rabindranath Chatterjee ridiculed the claim saying: “Everywhere when their leaders can’t face their cadres, they take shelters of blaming the TMC, people and their cadres know it well.”

The party had arranged a special organisational meeting at it’s Dainhat office today where Majumdar and Ghosh were likely to address. The rebels alleged: “The rural district president Krishna Ghosh and Dainhat town committee president Anup Basu suddenly wanted to complete the meeting before the arrival of the state leaders. They didn’t want to allow us to speak to the state leaders, though we were prepared to elaborate the agony of the party men, the terror they are facing in rural areas after the devastating Assembly Election results.” But, they alleged: “Our district leaders never felt it urgent to stand beside us. They are in league with the TMC.”
