BJP leader lynched allegedly by ‘TMC’ goons at Khayrasole in Birbhum

BIRBHUM, 12 JUNE: A BJP leader was lynched allegedly by a group of Trinamul Congress workers at Nabasan under Kankratala police station limits in Birbhum today.

Police said the deceased named as Mithun Bagdi was found dead in front of his house. His body has been sent to the hospital for autopsy.

Local residents said Mithun was a BJP’s mondol committee vice-president of Khayrasole block. He was accused of a murder case. He was recently released from jail. After staying in his in-law’s house for a few days, he came to his house today.

“After seeing him in the village, a group of TMC goons attacked him. They started beating him mercilessly. They even hacked him with sharp edge weapons. Later, locals informed the police who reached the site and retrieved the body,” a local resident said.

BJP leaders held the TMC for killing their party leader. “As soon as he returned his house, the TMC goons attacked him,” a BJP leader said.

TMC leader, however, said the deceased was accused of a murder case. One Raju Bagdi was murdered a few months ago. Raju’s family mentioned his name in the FIR. Accordingly police arrested him and he was in jail custody. Recently, he got bail and today when he returned his house, his rivals attacked him. TMC has no connection with this murder.
