Blood donation camp at Kalyani University draws wide participation

KRISHNAGAR, 16 AUG: Reinforcing the spirit of service and social responsibility, the All Bengal Trinamul Shikshabandhu Association, Kalyani University unit, organised a blood donation camp at Vidyasagar Hall on Wednesday that witnessed enthusiastic participation from teachers, officers, non-teaching staff, research scholars, and students. The initiative, held with the avowed aim of serving humanity, was marked by a vibrant presence of distinguished guests and a deep sense of collective commitment.

The programme was inaugurated by Ujjwal Biswas, Minister of Science and Technology and Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal, who lauded the organisers for their consistent effort in promoting humanitarian causes. “This noble initiative reflects the true spirit of education and service to society,” the minister remarked, appreciating the dedication of the Shikshabandhu fraternity.

The event drew an impressive lineup of dignitaries including Prof. Selim Box Mandal, Vice-President of the State Committee of WEBCUPA; Debashis Ganguly, President of Trinamul Congress, Nadia-Ranaghat District; Dr. Debanshu Ray, Registrar of Kalyani University; Binay Singh, General Secretary of the All Bengal Trinamul Shikshabandhu Association; Prof. Nilimesh Raychoudhury, Chairman of Kalyani Municipality; Dr. Prasenjit Mandal, General Secretary of Trinamul Youth Congress; Prof. Sujay Kumar Mandal, General Secretary of WEBCUPA Kalyani University Branch; Prof. Nandakumar Ghosh, Vice-President of the same branch; and Dr. Kingshuk Chakraborty, Shiksharatna awardee. Senior university officials including the Finance Officer, Controller of Examinations, and Dean of Students’ Welfare, along with several councillors of Kalyani Municipality and leaders of the Shikshabandhu Association’s State Committee, also joined the occasion.

Donors were felicitated with certificates and mementos in recognition of their contribution. Speaking on behalf of the Kalyani University Branch of the Association, President Anjan Dutta underscored the continuity of the endeavour. “For the last seven years, we have been organising this camp. In the future too, our organisation will continue such social activities,” he said.

The organisers expressed confidence that such efforts would further popularise the culture of blood donation and help foster humanitarian values across society.
