KRISHNAGAR, 8 APRIL: The body of a class IX student who fell off a boat into the Bhagirathi river at Patulighat under Nakashipara police station limits in Nadia was found floating on the river today.
Samrat Ghosh, a class IX student of Dadupur High School went missing after he fell off a boat while playing with friends and brothers yesterday.
Police said Samrat went to the Patulighat along with his friends and family members to take bath in the Bhagirathi river. A country boat was moored at the river bank and Samrat was playing on it. Suddenly, the boat capsized and he went missing. The family members and others started searching him and the police on hearing the news sent divers to join the search operation. But, all efforts went in vain. This morning, his body was found floating on the river and the police retrieved the body. The body has been sent to Saktinagar district hospital for autopsy, a police official said.
