KRISHNAGAR, 27 APRIL: In the poll bound West Bengal, a box filled with socket bombs has been recovered from an abandoned place inside the campus of the Chapra rural hospital in Nadia today.
Panicked gripped the locality soon after the news spread and the police immediately cordoned off the area. The local police called the bomb squad team who later displaced the box from the site and defused them.
According to the police, a total of nine socket bombs were kept in the box. Acting on a tip-off, police reached the hospital today and initiated a search operation. They later found a box placed at an abandoned place adjacent to the hospital building.
“It is an apparent estimation that the bombs were stored before the election, but as the district police conducted a massive preventive arrest before the polls, the miscreants hid the box inside the campus to create panic among the locals,” said a senior police officer.
A patient party said, “The bombs were kept adjacent to the hospital building where patients are being treated. There was an every possibility of a big explosion at any moment. The patients were very much panicked when the bombs were recovered.”
