NEW DELHI, 7 OCT: In a shocking turn of events, the Israeli-Gaza conflict reached a catastrophic milestone on Saturday when a surprise attack by the Islamist militant group Hamas claimed the lives of at least 100 Israelis and left more than 1,000 others injured.
The attack, part of Hamas’s operation named ‘Al Aqsa Floods’, saw hundreds of militants infiltrating Israel through land, air, and sea along the Gaza Strip. Armed with assault rifles, they indiscriminately shot civilians and reportedly abducted several Israeli Defense Forces soldiers, leaving Israel in a state of shock and chaos.
They fired thousands of rockets towards Israel from Gaza Strip in a span of 20 minutes. The unexpected attack caught Israel by surprise as militants continued to roam freely and shooting residents at will for hours.

“The enemy will pay a price he has never known. In the meantime, I call on all citizens of Israel to strictly obey the instructions of the army and the instructions of the Home Command,” Prime Minister Netanyahu said in his war declaration against Hamas.
Israel retaliated with major air strikes targeting militant locations in Gaza. Palestinian officials reported that Israeli air strikes have resulted in the death of over 200 people and injuries to nearly 1,000.
“The IDF is initiating a large-scale operation to defend Israeli civilians against the combined attack launched against Israel by Hamas this morning,” stated the Israeli Defense Forces in a post on social media.
As the conflict rages on, the Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed that fighting between IDF and Hamas militants continues in southern Israel. Security forces are working tirelessly to secure areas under Hamas attack, where terrorists have infiltrated Israeli communities and taken civilians captive.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant condemned Hamas’s actions, emphasizing that the militant group had made a grave mistake by launching a war against the State of Israel. “Hamas has made a grave mistake this morning and launched a war against the State of Israel. IDF troops are fighting against the enemy at every location,” Gallant stated.
This escalation in violence has drawn international condemnation, with leaders from around the world expressing deep concern. However, Iran stood out as an exception, with Yahya Rahim Safavi, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, congratulating Palestinian fighters for what he termed as the deadliest attack on Israel in decades.
“We congratulate the Palestinian fighters and will stand by them until the liberation of Palestine and Jerusalem,” Safavi declared, signaling a concerning development in regional dynamics.
As the conflict intensifies, the world watches with bated breath, hoping for an end to the violence and a path towards peace for the embattled region.
