BSF nabs smuggler with 15 gold biscuits worth Rs 92 lakhs from Karimpur in Nadia

KRISHNAGAR, 13 FEB: The 84 battalion jawans of Border Security Force (BSF) have seized 15 pieces of gold biscuits worth Rs 92 lakhs and detained a youth for illegally carrying the valuables from Kanaikhali market near the International border under Karimpur police station limits in Nadia.

Acting on a tip-off, the BSF jawans stopped a Krishnagar bound Karimpur-Krishnagar private bus (WB-57C-5858) near Kanaikhali market and nabbed a youth who was illegally carrying the gold biscuits.

The BSF jawans later handed over the seized items to the Customs officials at Karimpur.

Mr Pranab Kumar Biswas, superintendent of Customs in Krishnagar said, “The seized gold biscuits weighing 1.749 kilogram have currently market price worth Rs 92 lakhs. The BSF have seized the items from Kanaikhali market in Karimpur near Bangladesh border on Saturday at around 12 noon.”

According to BSF sources, the youth identified as Hanib Mondol of Murutia was on board when the BSF jawans raided the bus. The gold biscuits were concealed in the part of below his belt line.
