BSF rescues 9 rare exotic birds in Nadia

KRISHNAGAR, 11 OCT: The BSF jawans of 82 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier have rescued nine rare species of birds from the clutches of smugglers. The birds were being brought from Bangladesh to India through the International border near Dakotia border out post on 9 October.

According to the BSF officials, when the jawans chased the smugglers, they left the box and fled from the spot taking advantage of the thick darkness and bushes. When the wooden boxes were opened, 4 black cockatoos, 4 toucans and 1 marabou stork of rare species were found.

The seized rare species of birds have been handed over to the Forest Department, Krishnanagar.

The Commanding Officer of the 82 Battalion stated that our jawans are taking strict measures to prevent any kind of smuggling on the Border. He stated in clear words that we will not allow smuggling from our area under any circumstances.
