CBI quizzes prime accused Braja’s parents in Hanskhali rape and murder case

KRISHNAGAR, 26 APRIL: The Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) officials today quizzed the parents of the prime accused in the Hanskhali rape and murder case. The central agency officials brought Samarendra Gayali, a Trinamul Congress gram panchayat member and his wife in their Krishnagar camp office early this morning and interrogated them over a long period till 4.30 pm.

It has been learnt from CBI sources that they were released by the CBI officials in the evening.

On 4 April, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped at the birthday party of Braja Gayali, son of the Trinamul panchayat member Samar Gayali in Hanskhali. The girl died of excessive bleeding in her house on the next day. She was later forcefully cremated by the accused at the local unregistered crematorium.

The Hanskhali police arrested the prime accused Braja and his friend Prabhakar Poddar, but after taking charges of investigation by the Calcutta High Court, the CBI arrested Ranjit Mallick. While conducting investigation, the CBI officials also arrested three youths –Surojit Roy, Akash Garai and Dipto Gayali on Sunday. Today, the CBI officials interrogated Braja’s parents to gather evidence.
