KOLKATA, 26 MAR: Congress may take help of Prashant Kishore to tide over BJP in Gujarat Assembly poll slated to be held end of this year.
In the new turn of events, the Gandhi family had an hour long meeting with poll strategist Prashant Kishore in Rahul Gandhi’s residence. Both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were present at the meeting and it is learnt that Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi too joined the meeting virtually.
Political analysts are of the opinion that Gandhi family’s meeting with Prashant Kishore had a great significance in the national politics. They feel that there is possibility of unification of the Oppositions against the BJP before 2024 Lok Sabha poll.
It is learnt the meeting was held mainly eyeing at 2024 Lok Sabha poll.
After the poll debacle in all five states the Gandhi family lost no time but held meeting with Prashant Kishore.
The sources said, Mr Kishore has demanded a free hand, which was given to him by Trinamul Congress on West Bengal, to restructure and reorganise the Congress party before Lok Sabha poll and some Assembly polls that will be held end of this year and in 2023.
Moreover, he also stated the unification of Opposition without Congress will hold no water.
But, at the same time, Mr Kishore reportedly said that the regional parties which are strong in their own states should be given equal opportunities and no high handedness of the Congress is desirable for the unification of the Oppositions against the BJP.
Earlier, before the poll in five states, poll strategist Prashant Kishore had meeting with Rahul Gandhi but at that time Rahul Gandhi declined the service of Prashant Kishore. Mr Kishore after that meeting told the media, “It is not very easy to defeat BJP by Congress at this very short period.”
