KOLKATA, 23 MAY: The newly elected state fisheries ministers Akhil Giri today said that since Yaas may hit the coastal areas of East Midnapore and South 24 Parganas, he was holding meeting with the elected member of zilla Parishad’s, Panchayat samuti and gram Panchayats.
He said, “We are carrying out the state government instructions and are evacuating people from the low lying areas and shifting them to flood shelters, school and college buildings.”
“Our state government’s aim is mimimum life loss and police and our party workers are already miking in the areas.
Moreover, due to Covid 19 pandemic, we are keeping masks, sanitizers ready for those who will be evacuated from their homes.
