Filled with nostalgia, the institution celebrated its 85th Foundation Day a few days back on the 18th and 19th of January and what began as a humble endeavor in 1940 has blossomed into an institution of profound significance, shaping not just minds, but destinies.
The journey of Dasagram Satishchandra Sarbarthasadhak Sikshasadan traces back to the visionary zeal of Gopal Chandra Das Adhikary, a disciple of Gandhi, who recognized education as the cornerstone of societal progress. Faced with the challenges of a flood-affected, poverty-stricken region entrenched in superstition, Gopal Chandra embarked on a mission to kindle the light of knowledge in the hearts of the people.
In 1928, amidst the tumult of colonial rule, Dasagram Satishchandra Middle English School emerged as a beacon of hope, honoring the legacy of Satishchandra, the revered freedom fighter and political luminary of Sabang. Fuelled by the fervor of independence, the school evolved into a bastion of learning, under the stewardship of Ishwarchandra Pramanik, a stalwart inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore.
The ethos of sacrifice and service became the cornerstone of the institution, as teachers and students alike dedicated themselves to the noble cause of nation-building.
