KOLKATA, 6 JUNE: Abhishek Banerjee, who was made Trinamul’s all India general secretary yesterday, went to meet party’s secretary general Partha Chatterjee at his Naktala residence.

Abhishek Banerjee termed this as courtesy visit and Trinamul Youth Congress members said, “After securing such a high posts  in the party, he is showing respect and regards to the senior members of the party.”

Abhishek Banerjee said, “Humbled at the new role that All India Trinamul Congress has bestowed upon me. I thank every single soldier of the party who fought this battle shoulder to shoulder with me despite all odds and helped Bengal emerge victorious. I assure all that I will leave no stone unturned towards the service of the people and take Mamata Banerjee’s message to every nook and corner in India in the days to come.”

He also said, “I bow to all the senior colleagues in the party who stood by the party and its values despite all odds.”

He also went to the party office of the party’s president Subrata Bakshi where he talked with him for a few while. Later he visited the residence of state panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee.

According to TMC sources, the visit of Abhishek at the residences of these ace politicians sends a message that he will seek their help in expanding the ruling Trinamul Congress.

“Many a times it was alleged that Abhishek Banerjee runs a monopoly, but today’s visit makes it very clear that the young batch along with the senior and astute leaders of the TMC will work together for the betterment of the people of West Bengal,” mentioned the sources.
