DEB seizes 2.5 ton smuggled ration rice from Ghurni, 25 counterfeit Tata DEF containers from Nabadwip

KRISHNAGAR, 24 MAR: The District Enforcement Branch (DEB) officials, today, arrested three persons in two separate incidents and seized 2550 kilogram of ration rice from Ghurni area under Kotwali police station limits and 25 containers of counterfeit Tata Diesel Exhaust Fuel (DEF) from Nabadwip in Nadia.

Acting on a tip-off, the DEB officials accompanied by Kotwali police raided a place in Ghurni where ration rice was smuggled from Chapra. The officials caught the smugglers red-handed and arrested them. The two accused have been identified as Pintu Kundu and Owaz Mullick of Chapra. The police also seized an Engine Van on which ration rice was loaded.

In another raid, the DEB officials along with the operation manager of Tata Company seized 25 containers of counterfeit DEF of Tata Company. A shop named Porama Auto Center had stored the counterfeit containers and its owner allegedly used to sell these forged items to customers.

Ansar Khan, operation manager said the company had received a complaint from a person and based on his complaint, they contacted the local police and enforcement branch to conduct a probe. Accordingly, the DEB officials conducted a raid and found counterfeit containers from the shop.

A senior DEB official said they have arrested Jagatbandhu Ghosh, owner of the shop for selling counterfeit items and seized the materials.
