In an atmosphere marked by warmth and quiet celebration, Mr Dasgupta interacted with the children, enquiring about their health, education and daily routines. Officials said the initiative sought to blend the ideals of Swami Vivekananda — especially his emphasis on service to humanity and care for the young — with tangible action at the grassroots.

Health department officials of the municipality were present during the programme and supervised the distribution of nutritious food items, underscoring the importance of balanced nutrition for children’s physical and mental development. Special emphasis was laid on health awareness, particularly among children from underprivileged backgrounds.

Addressing those present, the district magistrate highlighted the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings in contemporary society, noting that investment in children’s health and education remained central to nation-building. He stressed that administrative responsibility extended beyond governance to active social engagement, especially with vulnerable sections.

The children, visibly delighted by the interaction, participated enthusiastically in the programme. The shared lunch, officials said, symbolised inclusivity and the spirit of equality advocated by Swami Vivekananda.
