More than 300 people filed applications for various schemes such as Khadya Sathi, Bidhaba Bhata, SC, OBC schemes, Kanyashree, Sikshasree, Krishak Bandhu and others. The other schemes in focus were Medhashree, Bhabisyat Credit Card, and micro-irrigation under Bangla Krishi Sech Yojna.

“Medhashree is a scholarship scheme for OBC students that were initially a central scheme, but the Centre later stopped it. The Bhabisyat Credit Card scheme will provide loans up to Rs 5 lakh to set up businesses,” said an official.

The camp was organised with the objective of making it easier for people to access government schemes and benefits by bringing the government to their doorstep.

“The Duare Sarkar initiative has been a massive success in West Bengal, providing a platform for citizens to access various government services and schemes without having to go through the bureaucratic hurdles,” an official who was monitoring the camp said.

Residents of Ghurni were delighted with the initiative and lauded the efforts of the government. “This is an excellent initiative by the government, and it has helped me access the schemes that I was not aware of earlier. The process was smooth and hassle-free,” said a resident.

The Duare Sarkar camp was equipped with various officials from different departments, such as health, social welfare, food, power and civil supplies. The officials were readily available to assist the residents in filling up the application forms and to provide any information they needed.

According to the district administrative officials, applications for various schemes as well as changes will be accepted till 10 April. Services are likely to be delivered between 11 April and 20 April.

“To reach the maximum number of people, the Duare Sarkar drive will be held at booth levels with both stationary and mobile camps. Around 1 lakh camps will be set up across the state to receive applications and an equal number of camps will be held for the delivery of services from 11 April to 20 April. Each day will see 16,000 camps,” the official said.
“Overall, the Duare Sarkar camp at Ghurni was a huge success, and the government’s efforts in bringing its services to the doorstep of the people have been highly appreciated by the residents. This initiative will undoubtedly help bridge the gap between the government and the people and provide much-needed assistance to those in need,” a local municipal commissioner said.
