Election fever heats up in Krishnagar, three detained for midnight drunken brawl

KRISHNAGAR, 15 FEB: With less than a fortnight to the municipal poll day, election fever has started heating up in Krishnagar. On late Tuesday night, relatives of Trinamul Congress and Congress candidates of 16 number ward at Baghadanga under Kotwali police station limits in Krishnagar engaged in a row in drunken state that triggered sensation in the locality.

On hearing the incident, the Kotwali police reached the spot and detained three persons – two Trinamul Congress workers and one Congress worker for breaking peace in the locality.

Police official said they have detained Sujan Ghosh and Bubai Ghosh of one group (TMC) and Arup Ghosh of another group (Congress).

According to the locals, the whole incident occurred in front Trinamul Congress election campaign office. When Arup Ghosh was walking down the lane beside the TMC election office, a drunken brawl initiated with TMC men.

The situation turned serious when workers of both the parties rushed to the site and engaged in small fight. But, police reached the spot son and brought the situation under control immediately.
