According to a police official, a retired doctor Shiv Shankar Shastri of Green Valley Apartment under Bhaktinagar police station limits in Jalpaiguri made an agreement on 20 December, 2020 with Bag where he reportedly ordered to make three fiberglass made idols –one of Lord Sri Krishna and two live idols of Mr and Mrs Shastri at the cost of Rs 10 lakh.

But, the accused artisan delivered the idol of Lord Sri Krishna to him on 15 July and he declined to deliver any live idols to him. In the meantime, the accused artisan had already taken Rs 5.5 lakh from Dr Shastri, the police official said.

Within a few days after receiving the Lord Sri Krishna idol, Dr Shastri observed that the idol was not made by fiberglass. But, the accused artisan refused to pay back the money, a complaint read.

Later, Dr Shastri lodged a complaint with Bhaktinagar police against the artisan.
