Firearm supplier arrested in connection with Gangnapur case

KRISHNAGAR, 17 AUG: The Gangnapur police under Ranaghat Police District have apprehended Sahjan Biswas, 30, son of Sirajul Biswas, a resident of Barochupri, under Hanshkhali police station, today. This arrest is connected to an ongoing investigation concerning the recovery of firearms in the Gangnapur area.

According to the police, earlier on 15 August, the police arrested one Saidul Mondal, son of Sukur Mondal, from Gangnapur, in possession of an illegal firearm. The investigation into the source of the firearm led to the arrest of Sahjan Biswas, who is alleged to be the supplier, said Mr Siddharth Dhapola, additional SP (HQ).

He also said the accused have been remanded in police custody, and further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the illegal arms supply network. The police are also looking into the possibility of more individuals being involved in this case.

Authorities have assured that they will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to curb illegal arms trafficking in the region, and they are committed to bringing all culprits to justice.
