The recovery has come after the chief minister Mamata Banerjee instructed the DGP to conduct search operation across the state to recover bombs and illegal weapons.

According to the police, five buckets packed with crude bombs, carefully hidden in bushes, have been recovered from Margram in Birbhum, a district reeling under the domino of violence after the killing of a panchayat official on Monday. The police filled the buckets with sand and water to prevent the bombs from exploding.

Meanwhile, police recovered four buckets of fresh bombs from Hurunuru village of Dhalhara Gram Panchayat No. 13 under Keshpur police station limits. “Initially, about 100 bombs were found in four buckets. The locals saw a few buckets in the forest. They informed us that bombs were kept in the buckets. Later a large police force went to the spot and recovered the bombs.

The bombs were active. In fact, the operation was going on in the villages for a few days. So maybe someone left it to escape the police. The operation will continue across Keshpur,” said a senior police officer.
