NEW DELHI, 13 OCT: In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, all 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the country are coming together for a mega Research & Development (R&D) Fair at IIT Delhi on 14th & 15th October 2022.
The mega event which is named as ‘IInvenTiv’ will showcase 75 indigenous research, development, and innovations projects of IITs to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence in line with the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The session will be inaugurated by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

With an aim to inculcate “innovation-driven” outlook, the event will focus on encouraging development of affordable technologies in line with Make-in-India” and Digital India initiatives. Further, a steering committee headed by Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman, Board of Governors IIT-Madras and Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT-Hyderabad and IIT-Roorkee will oversee the event.
IIT Madras is all set to showcase seven cutting-edge projects at the ‘IITs R&D Fair’. These projects are from diverse fields such as Telecommunications and Biotechnology to rehabilitative devices for the differently-abled. They are significant technological innovations that are poised to make a social impact on the community at large.

Highlighting the translational and transformational research underway at IIT Madras, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, “The faculty and students of our Institute have been working on technologies of societal importance spanning across multiple disciplines of science and engineering, as evident from the list of projects we will be demonstrating at the IIT R&D fair 2022. The R&D Fair is a great opportunity for the industry-academia interaction with an objective to enable large-scale productization of the technologies. We are confident that this effort shall culminate in multiple atma-nirbhar products in the Indian market. ”
On the 5G technology front, a presentation will be delivered by IIT Madras covering 5G Core and allied technologies licensed to industry, and follow-up research in several IITs. IIT Kharagpur will bring forth the numerous affordable healthcare devices developed and technologies transferred to the industry.
IIT Bombay will highlight their project on “Bahubhaashak” (polyglot), which enables speech-to-speech translation at a time when government of India is promoting regional languages in schools and higher education institutions in line with the National Education Policy 2020.

IIT Delhi will shed light on technologies focusing on rural development, agriculture, crop management, and climate change among others. Latest developments in batteries, charging solutions, and networking will be the focus point of IIT Hyderabad.
Notably, the event would also host administrators and students of institutions from tier 2 and tier 3 cities for them to get a closer view of the R&D ecosystem of IITs. As India is taking strides to scale new heights in research and innovations, the mega R&D event by IITs will support the nation’s quest in attaining self-reliance across sectors.
