KRISHNAGAR, 4 AUG: In a significant breakthrough, the Cyber Crime Police Station of Ranaghat Police District successfully apprehended Sourav Paul, a 24-year-old inter-state cyber fraudster, from the Saguna Uttarpara area. Sourav Paul, the son of Gopal Paul, has been involved in defrauding numerous individuals across various states in India, including Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, and West Bengal.
The arrest was made on 3 August, 2024, following an extensive investigation into multiple cyber fraud cases reported from different parts of the country. Sourav Paul is believed to have misappropriated substantial amounts of money from his victims through various fraudulent schemes.
During the raid, the police recovered several items from Sourav Paul’s possession, which are crucial to the ongoing investigation. The seized items include multiple SIM cards, mobile phones, a bank passbook, a cheque book, ATM cards, and a notebook containing vital information.
