KRISHNAGAR, 19 FEB: Kalyani University celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Annual Reunion of Physics Department – “Polaris -50” by organising the second edition of the National Physics Meet at the APJ Abdul Kalam auditorium on Sunday. The event was inaugurated by Prof Manas Kumar Sanyal, the Vice-Chancellor of the university. Many distinguished alumni and professors were present at the event.

The aim of the conference was to provide an opportunity for current students to interact with their predecessors who are now working as faculty members in various premier institutions across the country and abroad. Prof Sanyal said that this interaction will provide young minds with a wider view of their subject and will eventually help them in their research career.
The conference was a platform for several research workers and professors to discuss their research content offline and online before the students. Researchers and teachers also published their research posters during the session. The event was attended by many researchers and professors from various institutions around the country and abroad.

On the last day, the Physics department also organised a blood donation camp, which received a good response from the students and faculty members. The event concluded with a cultural program today.
The National Physics Meet was a great success and provided an excellent opportunity for students to interact with eminent professors and researchers. The event was an important step towards promoting research in physics and encouraging young minds to pursue a career in this field, said Prof Sujay Kumar Mandal, Director of Public Relation Cell of the university.
