Krishnagar Cyber Crime cops intercept three youths for betting on an IPL match

KRISHNAGAR, 29 APRIL: The Indian Premier League (IPL) betting is continued unabated in Nadia while the cyber crime cops in Krishnagar are desperate to nab the bookies. In the latest, the cyber crime officials under the Krishnagar Police District have busted another three persons for betting on an IPL cricket match last night. This time, the police have arrested the accused from Bhimpur and Tehatta areas while in previous cases, the police arrested the accused from Kotwali police station areas.

According to police officials, acting on a tip-off, the Krishnagar Cyber Crime officials in collaboration with the officials of Bhimpur and Tehatta police stations conducted raids last night and arrested Ranjit Sarkar and Parikshit Singha Roy of Bhimpur and Arnab Ghosh of Tehatta for betting on an IPL cricket match.

Rajesh Kumar Gupta, IC, Krishnagar Cyber Crime Police Station said the accused were produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Krishnagar and the magistrate after hearing pleas remanded Arnab and Parikshit in police custody for three days while Ranjit has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

Mr Gupta also said they have seized mobile phones, cash worth Rs 2.5 lakh and some documents related with betting from them.
