KRISHNAGAR, 18 MAY: The Indian Premier League (IPL) betting is continuing unabated in Nadia while the cyber crime cops in Krishnagar are desperate to nab the bookies. In the latest, the cyber crime officials under the Krishnagar Police District have busted another youth for betting on an IPL cricket match last night. This time, the police have arrested the accused from Simantapalli area under Kotwali police station limits.
Rajesh Kumar Gupta, IC, Krishnagar Cyber Crime Police Station said the accused named Somnath Burman of Simantapalli was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Krishnagar Ttoday and the magistrate after hearing pleas remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.
Mr Gupta said they have seized a mobile phone, cash worth Rs 68000 and some documents related with betting from him.
Mr Gupta also said they have arrested 11 persons so far in the past one month and seized cash worth Rs 8 lakh, 11 mobile phones, one SUV car and one two-wheeler from the accused.
