KU holds national seminar on e-waste management

KRISHNAGAR, 17 FEB: Kalyani University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Govt of India, organized a national level seminar on E-Waste Management on Friday. The seminar was organized by the university’s ENVIS Center, with the aim of raising awareness and finding solutions to the growing problem of electronic waste management.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Manas Kumar Sanyal, the Vice-Chancellor of Kalyani University, who highlighted the importance of eliminating e-waste. The seminar featured Anindya Banerjee, an e-waste expert from Webel, West Bengal, as the main speaker. Participants included students from various schools in Kalyani and beyond, as well as research workers and teachers.

As part of the seminar, a rally was also held to promote awareness about e-waste management. In addition, a documentary film on e-waste management was inaugurated, further highlighting the importance of proper management of electronic waste.

Prof. Koushik Mandal, the Director of the University’s ENVIS Center, emphasized the significance of such initiatives in addressing the issue of e-waste management.

The seminar came at a crucial time when the entire world is grappling with the problem of eliminating e-waste. With the increasing reliance on technology and electronic devices, the need for effective e-waste management has become a pressing concern. Such initiatives by Kalyani University are a step in the right direction towards tackling this problem, said Mr Banerjee.
