KU organises ten-day pre-Republic Day parade camp for NSS east zone

KRISHNAGAR, 17 NOV: A ten-day pre-Republic Day parade practice began today at the APJ Abdul Kalam auditorium of Kalyani University to represent the national service scheme (NSS) East Zone during the Republic Day celebration on 26th January (2023) in New Delhi. A total of 225 participants from ten states including north-eastern states are participating in the ten-day pre-Republic Day parade camp.

Prof Manas Kumar Sanyal, vice-chancellor of Kalyani University inaugurated the camp where Prof Soma Bhattacharya, vice-chancellor of Diamond Harbour Women University graced the occasion as chief guest.

The parade camp was organised jointly by Kalyani University and Regional Directorate of NSS under the aegis of ministry of youth affairs and sports, government of India. From this ten-day camp, the required number of participants will be selected from eastern zone to participate in the Republic Day celebration parade held in New Delhi on 26th January next.

The parade practice camp will be concluded on 25th November with a valedictory ceremony.

Dr Sujay Kumar Mandol, director of Public Relation Cell of KU said, “It is for the first time, the KU is organizing such a type of camp. The participants are happy with our arrangements made for them.”

Regional Director of NSS, Vinay Kumar said, “The overall infrastructure of Kalyani University is very good and I hope that we will conclude the ten-day camp successfully here.”

The participating states are Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Manipur, Mijoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
