KU plans to launch PG Journalism course : VC

KRISHNAGAR, 29 AUG: Kalyani university is likely to initiate a post graduate Journalism and Mass Communication course in near future. While inaugurating the Journalism Certificate Course-2 at Bengali department, Prof Manas Kumar Sanyal, vice-chancellor said, “We have initiated Journalism Certificate Course in the university under Rusa Component-10 scheme. But, realizing the growing demand of journalism courses, we are planning to initiate a post graduate journalism course in near future.”

He also handed over certificates to the students who passed the Journalism Certificate Course-1 at the Bengali department.

Prof Sukhen Biswas, coordinator of the certificate course said, “National and international teachers and journalists are involved in teaching the certificate course and we have framed the course keeping parity on the demands in the media sector. In the certificate course, theory classes will be held online while practical and examination will be held off-line.”

Prof Biswas also said that 58 students were given certificates in the first phase course today while this time a total of 93 out of 300 students have been selected according to their marks for the second phase course. In the first phase, professors from US, Canada, Germany and Bangladesh have taught the students.
