NEW DELHI, 20 NOV: In a spectacular celebration of cinematic excellence, the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary actress Madhuri Dixit, honoring her with the ‘Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema’ Award. The announcement was made at the grand inaugural function held at Panaji, Goa, attended by Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Singh Thakur, MoS Information & Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan, and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Madhuri Dixit, an iconic figure in the Indian film industry, boasts a illustrious career that spans four remarkable decades. The award recognizes her unparalleled talent, diverse portrayals of characters, and the indelible mark she has left on the cinematic landscape of Bharatiya Cinema.
Mr Thakur expressed his admiration for Madhuri Dixit’s enduring impact on screens across generations. “An icon across the ages, Madhuri Dixit has graced our screens with unparalleled talent for four incredible decades,” he posted on social media, acknowledging her remarkable contribution to Indian cinema.
Madhuri Dixit’s ability to breathe life into diverse characters has enthralled audiences since her debut in ‘Abodh’ (1984), gaining wider recognition with the blockbuster ‘Tezaab’ (1988). Her excellence in acting has been recognized with six Filmfare Awards, and she holds the record for the most nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, having been nominated fourteen times.
