“Mamata Banerjee fought and won the West Bengal elections on her own. Despite all kinds of comments and attacks, Bengalis showed their will. Bengal, which gave new lease of life to the freedom struggle with two words Vande Mataram, showed what one should do for independence,” said Thackeray.

The Shiv Sena leader also said that whenever regional pride is threatened, there is pressure on the federal structure. In such a situation, West Bengal is an example of what ‘going alone’ is. All kinds of attacks took place in Bengal, but all were in favor of Bengali pride. Bengal has shown an example of how regional pride is protected.

Echoing Thackeray, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said that from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other leaders visiting West Bengal frequently didn’t work for the Bengali sentiments and also “that West Bengal had set example of strong love for their culture”.

Political analysts belief that this has a great significance in building up a third front against the BJP.

Earlier, the poll strategist Prashant Kishor who helped Mamata Banerjee and her party to win landslide victory in 2021 Assembly poll , held three hour long discussion with NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

It is learnt that Trinamul Congress has entered into an agreement with Prasant Kishor’s I-PAC for both 2024 Lok Sabha poll and 2026 Assembly poll.

Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee earlier said that Oppositions should unite against the ‘Facist’ Union government who want to bulldoze the federal structure of the country.

In 2019, Mamata Banerjee took initiative to unite the Oppositions in India and even held a meeting at a Brigade Parade Ground with all Opposition leaders.

Meanwhile, Trinamul Congress all India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has declared, “This time we will set up our units in other states too. But, one thing I want to clear that that this time we will not set up units only to have an MLA. Rather we will set up units in those states where we can win the state.”

Meanwhile, at a time when most of the opposition parties are praising West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the landslide victory, leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari dared TMC to contest polls from outside West Bengal.

“While the TMC is now dreaming of going to Delhi, they should first contest a poll outside West Bengal and then they will come to know whether they are national party or not. Since election is due in Uttar Pradesh in February 2022, TMC should contest and check their fate in the state”, claimed Suvendu.

Political analysts said, whether Congress with join with Trinamul Congress or provide issue based support is for time to see.

However, state Congress president Adhir Chowdhury has condemned BJP’s move to divide Bengal.

Earlier, Left Front chairman Biman Bose also condemned the Governor for his unconstitutional behaviour.
