KALYANI, 29 JUNE: In the present pandemic situation, school, college or university is closed for a long time. Now the teachers are taking classes in a virtual manner through online webinars. But the biggest problem in this case is that while taking the virtual class, it is not clear what the students are doing on the other end of the computer or mobile or whether they are doing the class with the mind at all. So, this problem of online teaching is always mentioned by the teachers.
The Technology Cell of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, under the supervision of Vice Chancellor Prof. Saikat Maitra, has come forward to address this problem.
Led by Pritimoy Sanyal, the head of the Technology Cell, they have created an application that allows teachers to easily understand how many students are actually doing the class in front of their mobile or computer through a webinar.
This artificial intelligence and data analytics-based application will be loaded on the teachers’ laptops or mobiles which they can use as needed to understand how many students have left the webinar room at a given time or how many have participated in the same way. This cloud-based application has a method to find out how much students are learning in the class. Students will suddenly get a time bound question on the subject of teaching in the class on their mobile or computer and they have to give the answer within this stipulated time period, if not answered within the specified time the question will be deleted from their mobile or computer screen.
Teachers in a particular class can take this type of test one or more times as required. The software will provide live information on who is able to answer the specific question quickly through various statistical methods on the teachers’ mobiles or laptops. The technology cell of the university claims that through this technology it is possible to make a real assessment of a student in an online or virtual method of teaching which is not possible through any conventional software now.
