Mamata Banerjee unveils ambitious development projects in Nadia

SANTIPUR, 1 FEB: In a fervent display of commitment to grassroots development, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated a multitude of projects today in Santipur, underscoring a significant investment in infrastructure and welfare schemes. The inauguration ceremony, marked by enthusiasm and optimism, saw the unveiling of 563 projects valued at a staggering Rs 753 crore.

Among the notable initiatives inaugurated by Chief Minister Miss Banerjee include the inauguration of a power sub-station at Bagula, a vital addition to the state’s energy infrastructure. Additionally, 298 road projects under the Pathashree initiative were launched, promising improved connectivity and transportation networks across various regions. The inauguration also witnessed the unveiling of a state-of-the-art COVID-19 hospital with a 100-bed capacity at Saktinagar district hospital, a crucial step in the ongoing battle against the pandemic.

Highlighting the government’s focus on essential services, Miss Banerjee announced augmentation works for water supply projects in Chakdah and Haringhata blocks, underscoring the commitment to providing clean and accessible water to communities.

During her address, Chief Minister Banerjee emphasized the tangible impact of these projects, stating that a staggering 2.32 lakh people stand to benefit directly from these initiatives. Furthermore, she assured the gathering that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to social welfare, announcing significant expansions in welfare schemes.

Under the ambit of Lakshmir Bhandar, more than 13 lakh women are set to receive financial assistance, providing crucial support to households across the state. Additionally, 10 lakh individuals will benefit from the old-age pension scheme, while 1.4 lakh women will receive widow pensions, ensuring financial security for vulnerable sections of society. In a nod to gender empowerment, Chief Minister Miss Banerjee announced that 10 lakh girls will receive support under the Kanyashree scheme, promoting education and empowerment.

Looking ahead, the Chief Minister outlined ambitious targets for the future, promising that water supply would reach an additional 11.86 lakh households within the next year, underscoring the government’s relentless pursuit of inclusive development.
