SANTIPUR, 19 APRIL: In a heated political battle in the state of West Bengal, the state president and MP of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sukant Majumder, today launched a scathing attack on the ruling Trinamul Congress and its leaders, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
Speaking at a party program in Santipur of Nadia district, Majumder used fiery language to criticize the internal strife within the Trinamul Congress, referring to it as “Pishi Trinamul” or “Vipo Trinamul.” He stated that “all the crazy people have come to the court of the Pishi (aunt).”
He also addressed the recent controversy involving Trinamul MLA Tapas Saha and dismissed allegations against a BJP leader threatening to kill Aparupa Poddar, a Trinamul Congress member, demanding that the accuser clarify their name.
Majumder, who earlier led a bike rally of about five kilometers on the national highway, participated in a party conference at a private lodge in Gobindpur of Santipur police station. Speaking to reporters after the conference, Majumder addressed the recent controversy surrounding TMC MLA Mukul Roy, who defected to the TMC from the BJP. Majumder stated, “Many people want many things. The matter is in muddy water. Let it be clear first. He is still officially an MLA of our party, although we have filed a case to dismiss his post because he is carrying the flag of Trinamul and joined the Trinamul.”
Majumder also spoke about the BJP’s plans for the industrial sector in the state, stating, “Not only Tata, we will change the industrial system of the state when we come to power. We will create industries in every district where there is an industry-friendly environment. Because no one can provide government jobs to lakhs and crores of unemployed youth, jobs will come through industry and we will do that.”
Taking a swipe at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Majumder said, “Mamata Banerjee has lost her head in the heat. She is saying that she wants the resignation of the Home Minister. The Home Minister came to the state on the 14th and is responding on the 17th. From that, it can be understood that she has lost her head.” He also referenced Banerjee’s three calls to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the ongoing political developments in the state.
Majumder also addressed the recent controversy surrounding TMC MLA Tapas Saha, stating, “BJP has no business to take a stand against Tapas Saha. If it has to stand behind someone, there are many other big leaders of the Trinamul who will stand behind them.”
However, it’s worth noting that a BJP leader has been accused of threatening to kill TMC leader Aparupa Poddar on WhatsApp. When asked about this, Majumder responded, “Ask him to file an FIR if the BJP leader has threatened to kill him. An investigation will be done. Before that, he should fix his name. Is his name Aparupa Poddar or Afrin Ali?”
The political atmosphere in West Bengal remains charged as the state gears up for the upcoming panchayet elections. The war of words between the ruling TMC and the opposition BJP continues to escalate, with leaders from both parties exchanging barbs and accusations. The upcoming elections are expected to be closely contested, with both the TMC and BJP vying for power in the state.
