BARASAT, 2 MAY: In a significant development in the political landscape of Bangaon Lok Sabha constituency, the Matua community has nominated Mrs. Sumita Poddar as an independent candidate, citing dissatisfaction with the incumbent Member of Parliament, Shantanu Thakur.
