KRISHNAGAR, 11 JAN: A 64-year-old mother has approached the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Krishnagar complaining of harassment and torture by his son. The complainant, Gita Dutta, expressed fears that she could be thrown out of her house by her son, Rajib.
Speaking to Hummingbird News, Swathi Kundu, daughter of the complainant said they had first gone to Kotwali police to lodge a complaint but the police official on duty refused to take the case and suggested them to resolve the matter amicably.
According to the complaint, she has one daughter and one son. The son, Rajib stays with her and the daughter stays with her husband’s house. The aged woman claimed that Rajib has been abusing her for the last few years soon after her husband died in 2016 and trying to coerce her to transfer the house in his name.
The complainant said Rajib does not take care of her; instead he often tortures and abuses her. On 9 January, when she returned home from Kolkata after undergoing treatment, Rajib brutally thrashed her and beat her up critically. Her daughter on hearing the incident immediately sent her friend to her mother’s house who immediately took care of her. But, Gitadevi felt giddy and took shelter on her bed. Later, she was admitted to the Saktinagar District Hospital as her condition was serious. The attending doctors said she had experienced a mild stroke.
Ms Kundu said her mother is now staying in her house but police did nothing even after paying a normal inquiry into this matter.
