KRISHNAGAR, 2 MAY: A 57-year-old woman, who was in roza (fasting), died after a few men raided her house and allegedly beat her up. The incident took place at Pukuria under Chapra police station limits in Nadia on Sunday.
Police said the deceased named Mimi Sheikh was in fast when a few people raided her house. During altercation, she fell on the ground. When she was taken to Chapra rural hospital, the doctor pronounced her brought dead.
According to the police trouble broke out when one Rahul, son of the deceased called his girl friend by his mother’s cell phone. The girl, who married to one Mukul, allegedly kept relation with Rahul. She was caught red-handed by her husband when Rahul rang her.
Police said Mukul after finding his wife talking with Rahul was infuriated and they along with some men raided the victim’s house.
Police said they have arrested Mukul and a case under section 304 IPC has been initiated against him.
