KRISHNAGAR, 26 JULY: In yet another case of unemployed youth being duped in the guise of being offered job of primary school teacher, a woman contractual staff in the Land and Land Reforms department of Nadia district collectorate office has reportedly cheated a youth and collected Rs 5.80 lakh from him.
The victim youth named Mukles Sheikh, today, has lodged a complaint with the Nadia district magistrate urging him to take immediate action against his staff.

This incident comes at a time when former education minister and state industries minister Partha Chatterjee has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the alleged teacher recruitment scam.
According to the complaint lodged with the district magistrate, the accused woman named Mithu Bose had given fake D. Ed certificate and mark sheet along with a fake selection letter of West Bengal Board of Primary Education to the youth.
Mukles, who was unsuccessful in the consecutive 2012 and 2014 Teacher Eligibility Tests (TETs), suddenly met the accused in the map section of the Nadia district collectorate office in 2017. After knowing about the youth, the accused contractual staff had given an offer to him and promised a job of primary school teacher and settled a bid of Rs 11 lakh with him. Accordingly, Mukles agreed with her demand in November, 2017. Soon after it, Mukles received an e-mail from the accused and consequently he was sent for counseling. After that, Mukles received a selection letter from the West Bengal Board of Primary Education. He then handed over Rs 5.80 lakh to the accused as a half-payment of the total bid.

Since then, Mukles is unable to join as a teacher to any school as he was not given an appointment letter by the accused. Mukles then realized that he was duped by the woman and he then started urging her to refund his money. For the last few months, the woman was refusing to pay back his money and whenever he put pressure on her, she threatened him saying that her husband works as a lawyer.
Failing to recover his money from the woman, Mukles finally lodged a complaint with the district magistrate today for immediate action and judgement.
When asked, Shashank Sethi, district magistrate, Nadia said, “I don’t know the matter. Whenever a complaint has been lodged with my office, I will look into this matter.”
