KRISHNAGAR, 15 OCT: In an ambitious display of administrative resolve and public participation, the Nadia District Administration is set to launch a district-wide development drive titled Hazar Prakalpa, Nadiar Sankalpa (A Thousand Projects, Nadia’s Commitment) on 17 October, 2025.
The unique initiative, to be held under the ongoing Amader Para Amader Samadhan (Our Locality, Our Solution) campaign, will mark the simultaneous commencement of 1,000 development schemes across all 18 Blocks and 11 municipalities of the district.

The Nadia district magistrate, Aneesh Dasgupta said, “The effort seeks to demonstrate the administration’s renewed commitment to speed, scale, and citizen-centric governance by engaging people’s representatives, local citizens, and implementing agencies in a single coordinated exercise of participatory development.”
The Amader Para Amader Samadhan campaign, which aims to strengthen the link between citizens and administration through intensive outreach, has already achieved notable progress across the district, said Mahua Moitra, MP, Krishnagar.
Out of the planned 1,785 camps, 1,587 have already been conducted — marking a completion rate of 88.9 per cent. Across Nadia’s four sub-divisions — Tehatta, Krishnagar Sadar, Ranaghat, and Kalyani — the campaign has recorded a cumulative footfall of 15.45 lakh citizens, averaging 371 persons per booth.
In Tehatta alone, the average turnout stood at 431 persons per booth, while Kalyani recorded 419, Ranaghat 350, and Krishnagar Sadar 340. “This overwhelming participation has not only underscored the campaign’s popularity but also helped the district administration identify local development priorities through direct citizen feedback,” said Mrs Moitra.

Building on this momentum, the administration has approved 6,265 schemes under various rural and urban development programmes, of which 3,975 have progressed through the quotation and tendering stages. Significantly, 1,104 work orders have already been issued, paving the way for the immediate commencement of works. Krishnagar Sadar sub-division leads with 2,609 schemes approved and 527 work orders issued, followed by Tehatta with 929 schemes and 322 work orders, Ranaghat with 1,880 schemes and 202 work orders, and Kalyani with 847 schemes and 53 work orders. The upcoming Hazar Prakalpa, Nadiar Sankalpa initiative will now harness this groundwork to convert planning into action through synchronised project launches across the district.

District officials describe the initiative as a “convergence of governance and grassroots,” designed to bring administrative energy directly into community spaces. On the appointed day, works ranging from road improvement, drinking water supply, sanitation, drainage, school repairs, and community facility upgrades will commence simultaneously at hundreds of locations. Senior officials and local representatives will oversee the launches, while real-time monitoring mechanisms will ensure that the momentum continues beyond the ceremonial start. “This is not merely about starting projects,” said Mr Dasgupta. “It is about transforming the way people perceive local governance — making it visible, participatory, and accountable.”
While interacting with the journalists, Mrs Moitra said, “Over the past few years, Nadia has emerged as one of the more proactive districts in West Bengal in terms of participatory governance. The Amader Para Amader Samadhan campaign has been particularly successful in addressing grassroots concerns through door-to-door engagement, grievance redressal, and inclusive planning”.
Tarannum Sultana Mir, Sabhadhipati of Nadia Zilla Parishad said, “The new drive seeks to deepen this model by converting identified needs into tangible infrastructure and service outcomes.”
