According to administrative officials, the schools will be set up in Chapra, Mira in Kaliganj block, Hanshpukuria in Tehatta-II block, and Natidanga in Karimpur-II block. This initiative comes after the successful launch of an English medium Madrasha in Paninala under Krishnagar-I block.

With a total of 38 integrated government-sponsored English medium schools slated to be set up soon in the minority-dominated areas across the state, this move is expected to have a significant impact on the education sector in Nadia. The district administration has already begun searching for suitable lands to establish these schools, which are expected to start functioning from this financial year.

Nadia is home to around 58 lakh people, of which 27 percent belong to the minority category. Hence, this initiative is much appreciated and will benefit minority students. Furthermore, the district administration is working on various development projects such as Social Security Yojana, Aikyashree, and Karmatirtha for the minority community. Sources indicate that funds have already been sanctioned for setting up classrooms, toilets, and libraries in various schools in minority-dominated areas.

District Magistrate Shashank Sethi said, “The establishment of four English medium schools in minority-dominated blocks will help spread English learning among minority students. This initiative will be implemented soon.”

The establishment of these schools is a significant step towards achieving the goal of inclusive education in Nadia. It will not only improve the quality of education but also help bridge the gap between minority and non-minority communities. This is indeed a positive development for the education sector in Nadia, said a senior administrative official.
