KRISHNAGAR, 7 MAY: A 27-year-old housewife was hacked to death in front of her two-year-old child allegedly by her husband in the wee hours today on the suspicion that she had extramarital affair with another man. The incident took place at Bazarpara in Pyradanga under Ranaghat police station limits in Nadia.
The police have already arrested the accused man named Sanjit Das.
According to the police, the accused youth had married Aloka Das of Assam around six years ago. But, Sanjit claimed that he was not happy with his wife’s alleged mobile phone addiction and suspected her of having an extra-marital affair.
Due to this reason, the couple often used to engage in verbal barbs. Last night, the couple fought each other on the same reason as the accused claimed that his wife was busy conversing on her mobile phone. The accused out of rage attacked her with sharp edge weapon and hacked her to death, a police officer said.
According to the locals, the couple often fought over petty issues and their screams could be heard every now and then.
“On last night, we heard loud noises coming out from Sanjit’s house. We then rushed to their house and found that Aloka was lying on her bed in a pool of blood. We then called the police who reached here and retrieved the body,” a local resident said.
The police then took the body to the hospital where the doctor pronounced her brought dead. The body has been sent for autopsy.
