NABADWIP, 24 SEP: The 37th state conference of Students Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of the CPI-M was concluded with full of enthusiasm at Nabadwip, a heritage town in West Bengal today.

The three-day conference began with an open mass rally on 22 September at Radhabazar ground in Nabadwip where the organisation’s founder general secretary and the Left Front chairman Biman Bose delivered his inaugural speech. This apart, former general secretary of SFI, Sujan Chakraborty and CPI-M’s Nadia district secretary Sumit Dey also delivered their speeches.
On the last day of the conference, the delegates unanimously reelected Protikur Rahman and Srijan Bhattacharya as president and secretary of the State committee today.
The conference also elected a 99-member state committee and 27-member state secretariat committee. In the state committee 60 percent members are new faces while 18 members are girls.
In the conference, the student delegates criticized the Center for destroying the conventional education by initiating online education in the name of pandemic.
The suspension of physical classes for over one and half years due to the pandemic has adversely impacted the students, many of whom do not have the wherewithal to attend online classes.
‘”If everything can begin in a graded manner, if malls and restaurants can open, if people can observe festivals with restrictions, why can’t colleges and universities reopen in phases after vaccination of students and staff,” the students discussed in the conference.
