KRISHNAGAR, 23 APRIL: A 60-year-old man was killed and three others were injured during a nor’wester in Karimpur block of Nadia district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Krishnapada Haldar (60) of Murutia. He died after a tree collapsed on his thatched house during the storm.

Sources said the hailstorm that continued for over an hour damaged properties and crops. Several trees were uprooted and many houses were either partially damaged or fully damaged.
A senior administrative official said the hailstorm caused severe damage to properties and crops in Karimpur-I block. “We have started assessment of the loss and we will arrange relief for the victims,” the official said.
A local resident said the storm has ravaged several banana orchards in Karimpur. The banana growers will suffer a huge loss due to the damages. This apart, many big trees were uprooted in the locality. As several trees and its branches fell along the Karimpur-Sikarpur road, the traffic was disrupted for hours.
