KRISHNAGAR, 16 SEP: In a significant breakthrough, the Chapra police, operating under the Krishnagar Police District in Nadia, apprehended a gang of six dacoits, which included two notorious criminals, during a late-night operation in the Ranabandh area. The successful raid took place last night based on a credible tip-off, leading to the arrest of these fugitives who had been evading the law for an extended period.
The arrested individuals, identified as Masud Mandal, Samir Sheikh, Sahajamal Sheikh, Alim Mandal, Taher Ali Mandal, and Rabiul Mandal, had been on the run for their involvement in various criminal cases.
The accused were presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Krishnagar District Judge’s Court earlier today. After hearing the arguments, the magistrate ordered that they be remanded into police custody for a period of seven days.
The daring operation was executed meticulously by the diligent officers of the Chapra police, who acted swiftly upon receiving the tip-off about the gang’s hideout in the Ranabandh area. The successful operation has not only led to the capture of these criminals but also the recovery of a cache of dangerous weapons.
According to the police, the seized items included a 7mm pistol, five rounds of cartridges, eight explosive bombs, and several sharp-edged weapons. The discovery of these weapons highlights the potential danger that this gang posed to the safety and security of the region.
